D.A.V.E.'S (Divine Action for Victory & Everlasting Support) Place
My late husband, David Kendrick, and I purchased our home on the southwest corner of 74th and Brooklyn over 30 years ago. I worked for the University of Missouri Extension in Community Development and later Youth and Family Development through a partnership with Lincoln University Cooperative Extension. Fast forward, after 30 years with the University, I was preparing for retirement and some years had established No Greater Love Ministries (NGLM) that focused on women equipping women with a generational focus.
Dave and I learned that our neighbor directly across the street from us was very ill, passed and the house was for sale. He thought it would be a good idea to purchase the home so that I could do full-time ministry outside our home. It was a great idea but funny because I had donated items to support the women and community in our garage, the basement, and any space available.
After acquiring the home in 2003, Dave began working to make some needed repairs, and shortly after we learned that he had cancer and passed away on November 22, 2004. Now, suddenly I am a widow as many of the women I was working with. There was also a vast number of Grandparents raising grandchildren. Also, many single women were struggling to raise children without support.
On May 15, 2005, with the support of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church (CFBC), an open house for D.A.V.E.’S (Divine Action for Victory & Everlasting Support) Place Community Impact Center (DPCIC) was held. D.A.V.E.’S Place is in the Blenheim/Marlborough Target Area of the city with special emphasis placed on the five neighborhoods umbrellaed by the Marlborough Community Coalition (MCC). DPCIC is located on the northwest corner of 74th and Brooklyn in the Walnut Grove Neighborhood (former East Meyer 7).
“We don’t need more churches; we need more churches with IMPACT!”

Our Mission
D.A.V.E.’S Place is an acronym: Divine Action for Victory and Everlasting Support! The strategy for DPCIC was designed to include unique elements such as neighborhood friendly, a part of the current housing stock, provide office support for the neighborhood association and demonstrate a biblical alternative for living.
Our Vision
Our success over the years has focused on creating environments where these three elements occur: Creating Community, Strengthening Families, and Developing Youth.
We opened the center over 20 years ago and now have a model that can be replicated throughout the city.
Our Commitment
We treat all people with dignity and respect.
We honor our commUNITY by being socially, financially, and environmentally responsible.
We challenge each other, in our commUNITY, to strive for excellence and to continually learn.
Our Value
Together, within D.A.V.E.’S Place CommUNITY Impact Center (CIC), we will create life-changing opportunities for families in Walnut Grove.
