Greenwood Community Garden
About Us: The community garden at the corner of 77th and Prospect has been an idea that D.A.V.E.'S Place has been considering fostering for many years. The declining health of the African American community has been at the forefront of community issues that need to be resolved, with a community garden being the first logical step. We aim to establish a community asset that addresses the health crisis in our community, supports the healing process, and promotes ongoing health maintenance.
Our Moto: "Live to Grow, Grow to Live"
Quote by Dr. Bunseki Fu-Kiau:
"...farming is the art of caring for known plants as well as developing or discovering new ones in order to bring to living creatures (human beings included) the diversity of nutritive and curative substances hidden...in their natural forms: mineral salts, vitamins, stimuli, oils, seasonings, and herbs of all kinds..."
